Love, You

An ongoing project around intricacies and intimacy of familial relationships. Love, You explores one of the most natural yet complex elements of life — the relationship between mother and daughter. A bond deeper than genetics alone, one that is physical, emotional and deeply personal. A bond she longs for now more than ever.

In making this work, she questions what parts of a person are a derivative of their lineage, and what parts are unprecedented? Can you ever be truly anonymous or will your roots always inform you?

McGuire uses both photography and the family archive to obscure the line between what is real time and what is antiquated. Her work is both a memory and life as she lives it.
